Why do we need Omega-3?
Omega-3 essential fatty acids (EPA & DHA) are just this - essential to our health. Unfortunately our bodies don’t synthesise these, therefore the only way to obtain them is through our diet and supplementation. They are vital to the suppleness and health of all cells in the body, and they provide many positive benefits for brain function, cardiovascular and nervous systems, joint health and mobility.
Flaxseed provides the body with omega-3 in the far less effective form of alpha-linoleic acid (ALA). ALA is not equivalent to DHA or EPA in its biological effects, and needs to be converted to EPA in order to be effective.
